I fell in love with Simone Elkeles books, since I read "Perfect Chemistry", and after, I read all the books, that were written by her, and "Wild Cards" was the last one, and guess what, I don't regret it at all, as usually for a books by good authors, I finished it in 1 day, it was SO good!!! Love it, I heard, that there is going to be 2nd book, I'm so waiting for it!!!!
"Wild Cards", the first book that I started to read this year, and I don't regret it, because now I know for sure, that my year is going to be full with bunch of tasty and sweet books!!!
The book evolves around main characters, Derek Fitzpatrick, hot, handsome, sexy ex-football player, and Ashtyn Parker, hot, beautiful, sexy girl football player, also a captain of her team.
When Derek is getting kicked out of his private school, he doesn't have a chance, but leave California and live in Illinois with her step-mother, who thinks, that for his 5 years old son, Julian, it'd be good to grow up in a company of family members.
For Julian, Derek is like a hero, big brother, who loves him unconditionally.
For Derek, Julian is his only family member, even though, they don't share any blood. His father serves in US marines, mother died from cancer, and the only relative that he has besides his father is her grandmother, Elizabeth, mother of his mother, who never took interest in his life, and is a rich lady, that never accepted her daughters marriage, which made his mother to leave her hometown with his father.
After his mother death, Derek's father gets married to a younger girl named, Brandi, who has a 5 years old boy, Julian, from her ex-boyfriend, Nick.
After all his life drama, all that left for him is to leave California, and live with her step-mom's family.
Ashtyn, gets voted, as a captain of her high-school football team, in which, she's the only girl player. The quarterback of her team, who is by the way her boyfriend, Landon, who she thought and he himself as well, that would be the next captain, betrays them and leaves the team, for captain's spot in their rival team, leaving them without a quarterback, after all what Ashtyn has to do besides getting her her grumpy father's attention, is to find an amazing quarterback for her team, as a captain, and take her team to the state championship.
After both meet each other, many things happen, exciting, interesting, funny, etc.
This book, is one of the best, easy-going and at the same time meaningful books. You need to read this for sure, if you haven't yet, because author created the characters like they are real, events that happened, seems so real as well, nothing exaggerated, just like normal lives, without "OMG, I saw you with another girl (even when they are not together) you are just like others" and other stupid things, that most of the authors, just write, to fill the pages. Everything happens at the right time, at right place without any problems, and stupid break ups-make ups.
I gave it 5 out of 5!!! It worth it!!!
